How we derive cost figures

Every cost figure on this site is generated from a versioned cost artifact and baked into the page at build time. Nothing is estimated by hand, and no figure appears without a source.

The cost artifact

Figures come from a structured dataset ("cost artifact") produced by EstimationPro.AI from 2026 regional construction cost data. The copy used for this build was generated on (artifact version 1.0.0). Our build fetches the latest artifact, refuses to build from a copy older than the one already published, and falls back to a committed snapshot only if the fetch fails.

What low, typical and high mean

Each scenario — a combination of project inputs such as material, home size and stories — is priced as a range at the national cost level. Typical is the most representative figure for that scenario; low and high bound the range most jobs land in. Scenario assumptions are stated alongside every figure's basis, including permits and disposal where noted.

How your ZIP changes the figure

National figures are a midpoint, not a quote. Markets are grouped into 30 distinct pricing tiers covering 25,966 ZIP codes, running from 14% below to 23% above the national level. A local estimate is the national scenario price multiplied by the tier for your ZIP.

What the figures do not include

Add-ons (for example insulated backer board or soffit and fascia replacement on a siding job) are always listed separately and are never included in scenario figures. Structural repairs discovered mid-job are not priced in advance.

Our standards

We make no ROI or resale-value claims, no manufacturer endorsements and no health claims, and every figure is sourced — see our editorial standards.
